Purple Campus launches Uptool test

Created in 2021 and bringing together the former training centers of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Occitanie Region, Purple Campus is a training center which trains more than 10,500 apprentices and 12,000 employees, business leaders and applicants each year. of employment.
In 2022, Purple Campus is partnering with Haikara, Bildungswerk der Bayerischen Wirtschaft (BBW) and the University of Latvia to carry out a test on different digital learning methods and their efficiency.
The Pedagogy Department supports trainers in their educational approach at several levels:

  • Training in pedagogy;
  • Exchange of practices;
  • Support in the use of digital tools;
  • Harmonization of hourly volumes and educational progressions;
  • Adaptation of resources (premises, tools, methods).

The possibility of better understanding the learning preferences of learners and especially their effectiveness is an essential element for adapting and making pedagogy more effective.
Thus, Purple Campus relied on its digital team, its trainers and learners to carry out a large-scale test with 2,000 learners. From February to May 2024, Purple Campus learners, under the supervision of trainers, randomly completed the Uptool tests.
The results, supplemented by BBW tests, will be processed by the University of Latvia in the summer of 2024.

Uptool: Test construction

Building the Uptool tests required consultation and configuration time.
Once the learning methods to be evaluated were targeted: Reading, video support and interactive content, it was necessary to determine sufficiently transversal themes that could concern and interest people with different profiles (Culture, age, gender, sector, experience, etc.). .). 3 themes emerged:

  • Mathematics: on level 3 elements
  • IT: on hardware and software elements
  • The media.

Trainers specializing in each theme have produced informative content and level tests. These “raw” elements were the subject of exchanges between the different project partners before reaching a consensus. From the raw content, Haikara was able to start production of the test capsules using different training module design tools. Ergonomics and guidance in the capsules were the leitmotifs of the partners, which made it possible to offer content that was visually attractive and easy to use (navigation, connection).
A testing phase of the tests was also carried out and required numerous adaptations and corrections before the content was made available. The definition of panels, conditions for taking tests, follow-ups and planning via LMS platforms also made it possible to meet set deadlines and guarantee a satisfactory level of participation.
